Stressed? If you are going to be a Christian in a post-Christian world you will be stressed. Does the bible, written millennia ago, offer an anti-dote to the stresses of the 21st century? Can men like Jeremiah, Elisha, and Paul give us encouragement to deal with our daily burden of financial, health, family, or work stressors? Jeff Patton sheds light on the scriptures that will help us overcome anxiety, fear, and exhaustion so we can be stress survivors.
From the very beginning one of God’s prime directives involved the sanctity of life. Yet early in the biblical account violence bred violence and God intervened to stop the carnage. Then God set out his expectations to make humans accountable for the blood they shed. Jeff Patton investigates the question of, “What is murder?” and God’s directives given to deal with those who shed innocent blood.
There is a moral logic to the universe that governs human relationships and is as powerful as any laws governing physics. So whether we are aware of these principles or not we will reap what we sow. Amy Winehouse’ death was a tragic example of ignoring the fifth commandment, sowing bad seed, and reaping the consequences. Jeff Patton looks through the prism of the scriptures to bring to light the wisdom inherent in the fifth commandment and the blessings that flow from obedience to God’s teaching.

The world this summer is facing unprecedented financial and political upheaval on almost every continent. Yet, in the long term, there has been a subtler but perhaps more significant change that has taken place as western society has moved from a Christian to a post-Christian worldview. Where will this change lead us and how will it effect every Christian? Jeff Patton looks at the scriptures in relation to some modern views and opinions that will impact every fundamentalist bible believing Christian. Are you aware of the trends and their implications for the future?
Does God require something from you? Is obedience thicker than blood? When it comes to the fifth commandment some people don’t see the full implications of what God requires that He may have a Holy seed – godly children. Jeff Patton examines the scriptures to reveal what God expects in order that we might receive the fifth commandment’s promise of a long life.
As followers of Christ, once we know that God has given us a command to keep the Sabbath day, then we begin to ask, “What should we do to keep the Sabbath Holy?” Jeff Patton takes a closer look at the biblical examples of Sabbath observance to help us walk in the footsteps of Christ and the disciples.
Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it Holy. Sound familiar? It should ring a bell. God wants to go on a date with you at the end of the week, are you going to stand God up? Jeff Patton discusses the fourth commandment, and why it is so important for a Christian to remember.
