king_swordThe Jews have long celebrated this momentous Holy Day and with good understanding of some key elements of the meaning of the day as taught in the Hebrew scriptures. As a Christian celebrating this Holy time, when you consider the themes of the Feast of Trumpets, Yom Teruah/Rosh Hashana, have you considered the importance of Christ’s return in terms of establishing justice, and executing judgements? love is
Do we love the things that God loves. As His children we should know what our Father loves and we will grow to love the same things. So what God loves is an important question for any Christian. Where do we go to know the answer? Jeff Patton searches the scriptures, for they provide us with ample evidence as to God’s nature and what He loves.

What does God hate?

What does God hate?

It is just as important to know what God hates, as it is to know what God loves. If we are to become perfect as our Father is perfect, we must also hate those things that will keep us from achieving our potential as children of God – we must hate what God hates.

Woman of Valour: Eshet Chayil

Comments Off on Woman of Valour: Eshet Chayil, Filed in Sermons and Media, Videos, by CGP.

woman of valourThe Eshet Chayil, or woman of valour, teaches the Christian about many aspects of living a life that pleases God,whether you are a woman or a man. The valiant wife is a metaphor of the kind of devotion that brethren should have in their service to God. In our society that no longer values the eshet chayil, we have settled for self-absorbed lives that lack the nobility of character that God desires. In understanding Proverbs 31 we can all aspire to the virtues that should be a part of our daily lives as the people of God.

freedom by covenant, the magna carta’s roots in biblical teaching

The signing of the Magna Carta was an event in history that brought to the English speaking world a re-establishment of the concept of freedom that found its roots in the biblical idea of covenant. Jeff Patton discusses the importance of freedom as an “inalienable right” and how vital an understanding of freedom is to the message of Christ and the new covenant scriptures. What does your freedom in Christ do for you?
