Lord Our Shepherd – Part 6
Restoration is a major theme in scripture. One might think that those in the shepherd’s care do not need to be “restored,” but a shepherd knows how easy it is for sheep to become “cast,” lost, or injured, for a variety of reasons. Learn how the Lord, the good shepherd, has provided for people like the Shunamite woman. And he will provide for us, so we can confidently proclaim, “He restores my soul!”

Lord Our Shepherd – Part 5
Lord our Shepherd by still waters:
What is the calm quiet water that the good shepherd provides for his flock? What is the spiritual analogy that David is using to express God’s care for his people? And how does Jesus, the good shepherd, provide living waters for his brethren? Let the scriptures give us a vivid picture of this powerful metaphor to encourage and comfort us.

Lord Our Shepherd – Part 4
The Lord our Shepherd in Green Pastures:
How is it that the Lord, our shepherd, is able to “make us lie down in green pastures?” What does this agricultural analogy mean to so many of us who are so far removed from a pastoral life? What three things keep the sheep from resting and how does the shepherd provide for the needs of his flock? Let the scriptures reveal the full meaning of this text and illuminate how God provides all we need to be at rest “in green pastures.”

Lord Our Shepherd – Part 3
Lord our Shepherd we shall not want. Are we contented, knowing that the Lord God will provide the things that we need? The world we live tends to make us feel dissatisfied and always wanting more, whereas the Lord says he will take care of us if we trust in Him and follow his leadership in our lives. So what master are we following?

Lord Our Shepherd – Part 2
What is the nature of our Lord? He is the good Shepherd! Do we have the confidence we should have, knowing that it is the Lord God, who is our Shepherd? Do we understand the benefits of having a good master, a faithful shepherd, who understands our every need, and has the means to provide for us? David the shepherd King of Israel understood what it was to be a part of God’s flock, with the Lord our Shepherd.

Psalms 23
God uses the metaphor of sheep and shepherd to describe in rich detail the kind of care that good Shepherds have for their flock, and the attitude that faithful sheep have towards the Shepherd.
The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.

Lord Our Shepherd – Part 1
God uses an agricultural metaphor to help people understand the relationship between His people and the leaders, faithful shepherds, God has called to care for His sheep. What can we learn from the scriptures to help us understand what God requires of his servants? What is the motivating force behind our obedience and service to God’s people?
