Are we learning lessons from COVID-19? Our world is seemingly very fragile now, as stock markets, business, tourism, and education all react in panic to the declaration that COVID-19 is a pandemic. But this is not the first pandemic, nor will it be the last. So what wisdom can we gain and what action can we take when it comes to the spectre of contagious disease? Are We Prepared for Battle?
Our spiritual enemy is powerful and relentless, so scripture tells us that we need to gird our loins with truth. Jesus having done battle with the Adversary, knew we needed to stay alert and be prepared. In his final prayer before his crucifixion, Jesus asked the Father to protect the disciples from the evil one. They had to live in a world under the sway of this enemy, but they would not belong to his world. They were a part of the Father’s Kingdom and could rely on his help to do spiritual battle. Jesus in his example prayer reminded us to pray that the Father would rescue us from the evil one, the Father would not fail to do his part. So are we preparing and doing our part? More

Looking for Leadership in Difficult Times
When it comes to making political choices in difficult times we may wonder what to do? In a democratic society we do have a responsibility to elect leaders, but the options may seem less than ideal. Paul however, suggested that people pray for those in authority. Why? So we can live peaceful, quiet, godly lives. Some political options that may be our present reality could make this impossible. There are those who would support values that would put us at odds with the state, and condemn us for obedience to God. On the other hand there are those who support the sanctity of life, and want to uphold our freedom of religion, conscience, and speech. So in difficult times we need to be wise and understand what is really important to living the Christian life. And pray for our leaders. More

In Need of Strategies to Combat Depression?
Many people have had a bout with combatting depression. Depression whether caused by death, loss, or anxiety, is something we all suffer from on occasion. For others, they may be combatting depression as the result of medications, antibiotics, or nutritional deficiencies. And, depression manifests itself in different ways with different people. For some it is just a grey cloud of fatigue and frustration that turns even the simplest tasks into arduous chores.
