Jesus Heals the Blind
In dealing with the religious leaders of his day, Jesus queried whether they were spiritually sighted or blind. He put them to the test on the Sabbath by healing a blind man who had been blind since birth. It was truly a miracle that many witnesses rejoiced in and readily accepted as the work of God. For not only could the man see, but he could correctly interpret what he was seeing. And he, being healed, now understood the nature of the one who had healed him. For he reasoned, who but a prophet of God could give sight to the blind? But this was not the reaction of everyone. Those who thought they were spiritually superior were not rejoicing! Were they spiritually sighted or blind to the reality of God’s power at work? More

Abraham Talks with the Lord God
Abraham knew the power of effective prayer. Had he not prayed for a son? And God had promised to bless Abraham with his heart’s desire for, “Nothing was too hard for the Lord.” It did not matter that Sarah was well beyond child-bearing age, for God could do the seemingly impossible. Their son, Isaac, was the answer to their prayers; Isaac, meant “laughter,” for Sarah had laughed at the idea of an old woman having a baby. As a consequence of Abraham’s answered prayer, a blessing was passed on to all nations. As they followed Abraham’s footsteps and walked in the way of the Lord, they would be blessed. Abraham’s effective prayer made a difference, and God listened. Is God listening to us? More

Encouragement in Difficult Times
Divine encouragement is not the modern concept of “Go on; you can do it!” Rather, it is a reminder that good outcomes are more than the result of mere human ability, strength, or perseverance. It is a reminder that God is our strength and refuge in times of trouble. Though the earth is in turmoil, and nations are in chaos, the Lord God promises that he will preserve his people and give them a future. Where will we find this divine encouragement? More

Paul gives us a detailed description of the armour we need to wage spiritual warfare. He warns us that we have an enemy who will attack at every opportunity, so we need to understand his tactics. We need to make the spiritual preparations to be able to take our stand in battle and be victorious.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the [a]wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of [b]the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Our Offensive Weapon – the Sword of the Spirit
Are we prepared to meet the challenges of our generation with the sword of the spirit? The apostle Paul knew from personal experience the need to resist and stand your ground in the evil day. Whether dealing with rioters or facing incarceration based on false charges, Paul was prepared for spiritual battle. He advised the brethren to put on the armour that God provided. God’s armour would help them meet their daily challenges.
It was daunting at times to live as followers of Christ in a pagan society. They were constantly in conflict with the cultural norms of their time. They understood that there is a spiritual battle to be fought daily. So besides the defensive armour of breastplate, helmet, and shield, God provides our one offensive weapon. Are we making a daily effort to take the sword of the spirit that God is offering us? More

Prepared for Spiritual Battle
Christians are disciples with a mission, and must be equipped with the spiritual “footgear” that will help them fulfill their role. There is a spiritual war being waged and our Master has prepared us to fight our battles. As spiritual warriors, part of being prepared is wearing the footgear, that will give us stability when facing the enemy. So what must we wear? More

Spiritual Battle, Deception, and Ethnic Strife
Are you prepared to quench the fiery darts that the Adversary sends your way? When Christ’s disciples asked him about his return and the signs of his coming, he gave a warning. He told them to be careful, so they would not be deceived. They had to walk a straight path in a crooked world. The society would attempt to mislead them, entice them into error, and cause them to deviate from God’s path.
This would become the reality for those who did not know the scriptures or the power of God. And having been deceived, these people would become caught up in the ethnic strife and quarrels of the time. As a result, Christ warned that many people would be offended and betray one another, denouncing even those closest to them. This bleak picture of society would be the direct result of lawlessness and hatred, for the people either never knew, or willfully rejected the ways of God. More
