Two millennia ago, Jesus Christ had a message for the people of Judea that resonates in our world. He spoke of the tragedies of his time when the Galileans were murdered by Pilate and the Tower of Siloam fell and many were killed. He also reflected on the nature of Jerusalem and its people in his day and what the future had in store for the people of Israel in Judea. This message harkened back to the Song of Moses written before Israel entered their promised land. It was a song recounting Israel’s wilderness experience and prophesying about the future of the people and the land. Many of its verses seem to have a partial fulfillment in our time – a time when the people of Judah have surprisingly returned to their inheritance and been re-established in the land centuries after the destruction of their temple state. Listen to the prophecies of Isaiah and Zechariah to gain insight into what was foretold by God. They reveal a picture of God’s justice, his mercy and his purpose for Israel that will be fulfilled in the future. God is faithful and he will deal justly with the evil-doers and those who turn to him for mercy. Consider the message of the prophets to us and be encouraged in spite of the times of trouble that we may be enduring at the present.

Malachi and the Great Sabbath
Comments Off on Malachi and the Great Sabbath, Videos, by CGP.Malachi, the messenger of God, wrote the Lord’s message to rehearse the events and lessons of previous centuries and to foreshadow future events. He wrote in a time when people were becoming complacent and losing hope. This book which forms a bridge between the Hebrew and Greek scriptures was traditionally read on the Great Sabbath before Passover. In God’s great human epic, God warns those who say they are his people but refuse to acknowledge their failings and do what is right. God takes issue with the contemptuous priests, who do not honour him. He will judge those teachers who are hypocrites and show favouritism.

Our Messiah — Humanity’s Hope
Comments Off on Our Messiah — Humanity’s Hope, Videos, by CGP.Many religions talk of the coming of a Messiah. But often the view whether biblical or secular, is limited in scope. People are looking for a charismatic individual to save them from their plight and the heavy-handed rule of tyrants or foreign powers. And though the Messiah of the Hebrew and Greek scriptures will come to deliver the oppressed, to rule over the nations, and to establish justice, he was anointed to perform an even greater mission. Do you know who the Messiah is, the mission he was given, and how he will fulfill his destiny ?

True Doctrine: Who Interprets Scripture Perfectly?
Comments Off on True Doctrine: Who Interprets Scripture Perfectly?, Videos, by CGP.In the midst of modern culture wars the question of right and wrong looms large. In the church this becomes a question of ‘What is true doctrine’ and by whose authority is it established. In the early church the division over doctrine eventually created a great rift within the first century community. It drew a dividing line that led to the creation of distinct religious traditions – Judaism and Christianity. By the early fourth century the messages of the gospel writers had been disseminated to many regions. There was no doubt as to their authenticity, but major disputes over their interpretation But today, many have come to doubt whether the Greek scriptures are authoritative. What about you?

The Road to Passover – Passover People
Comments Off on The Road to Passover – Passover People, Videos, by CGP.Passover People our Narrative of Hope Over the centuries the scourge of anti-semitism has done an effective job of robbing Christians of their heritage as Passover People. How many Christians today understand what Paul wrote? That whether Jew or Gentile, if you belong to Christ you are Abraham’s children? How many understand their role in the biblical narrative, their common scriptural roots and shared biblical standards? But most importantly, how many grasp their new covenant relationship with the Father as Passover People with a glorious destiny?

God’s Nature: God Loves Justice
Comments Off on God’s Nature: God Loves Justice, Videos, by CGP.The Rule of Law The rule of law has become a politically hot issue. But is the rule of law an issue that is important to God? Is it true that God loves justice? When it comes to our judicial proceedings there are accusations and counter-accusations of bribery and fraud, of political interference, and corrupt judges. It would seem at times that Isaiah understood the nature of our times when he wrote. “Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.” Yet, we have hope in a Messiah who will bring equity and righteousness. His government will bring peace. How? With justice based on the rule of law.

The Authentic Gospel Messiah the Lamb of God
Comments Off on The Authentic Gospel Messiah the Lamb of God, Videos, by CGP.John’s Eye-Witness Account In the authentic gospel Messiah the ‘Lamb of God’ is John’s way of describing the Messiah’s mission. John was referring back to the unblemished male sacrificial lamb that was offered at Passover. But Christ was not only the lamb whose blood protected the people from the Death Angel. His blood sacrifice would purge all sins, for all people, for all time. Why was this necessary? In Noah’s time, God ‘resolved’ the problem of a society that was exceedingly wicked and depraved by eliminating all who sinned. But God would pardon the sins of all those who repented and lived changed lives, through the sacrifice of the Messiah. He has shown us mercy and paid the ultimate price in our stead.
