Should Christians delight in the law of God? John says sin is lawlessness, and that Christians cannot live a life of sin. Yet, Paul asks the question, “Does faith overthrow the law?” Did he disagree with John? What was Paul’s answer? What is meant by the scripture that says, if it is not of faith it is sin? The role of the law in the life of believers has been a matter of controversy for centuries. There is a great deal of confusion in the minds of many Christians when it comes to God’s expectations and the role of the law in the life of the Christian. Perhaps, you have wrestled with some of these questions:

- Does “grace” eliminate the need for the law?
- Are there different standards for Jew and Gentile?
- Are the ten commandments still valid, but the statutes are not?
