Goshen Gazette – Passover Script

Comments Off on Goshen Gazette – Passover Script, Reader's Theatre, by CGP.

This Passover script provides a humorous, but biblically sound retelling of the story of the Exodus from Egypt from the eyes of first person accounts as read in the “Goshen Gazette” news. This could be acted out by a youth group in costume and presented to the congregation. Or it is easily broken into one page scripts that can be read by adults and children around the table for the evening meal at the beginning of the first Holy Day during the Passover season.(NTBMO/Passover)

Assad: Syrian Civil Conflict

Comments Off on Assad: Syrian Civil Conflict, Blog, by CGP.

News reports today, like every other day this week, are telling a gruesome tale of slaughter and brutality in the Syrian civil conflict. Everlasting Covenant Series

Comments Off on Everlasting Covenant Series, Beliefs, by COG Webcast.

Would it surprise you to know that:

The covenant was not a contract
The “Old” covenant was not “done away”
Christ did not abolish the law, the covenant
The covenant was not a “marriage”
    The covenant is everlasting

Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them, and it shall be an everlasting covenant with them; I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My sanctuary in their midst forevermore.

    Ezekiel 37:26

Covenants 1 — Walking with God

What does it take to have a spiritual relationship with the Father and the Son? What is the yoke that Christ asks us to be willing to bear in order to be in step with Him? Consider the scriptural witness in this series of sermons that brings to light the nature of our covenantal relationship with the Creator of the universe. How is it possible for physical people to have a relationship with the Eternal – an Everlasting Covenant? The scriptures make this understanding clear for those who have been called by God to have their hearts and minds open to see the truth.

Covenants 2 —  Called to Be Saved

Is an understanding of the everlasting covenant mere esoteric knowledge, or a minor twig of understanding on the tree of life? Explore the scriptures and understand the covenant’s critical role in our understanding of salvation and our relationship with Christ. The covenant is a life-long, life-changing relationship not a one-time profession of faith.

Covenants 3 — Partnership with God

Do you have a contractual relationship with God or a covenantal relationship? And what is the difference between the two, or are they the same? What do the scriptures tell us about God’s purpose and the work he calls people to accomplish in partnership with Him? The scriptures make clear who God calls into an everlasting covenant, the nature of the calling, and the work he calls each individual to do while walking with God.

Covenants 4 — Patriarch to Nation

Many religious people are confused about the nature of the covenant that God established with the people of Israel. Jeff Patton examines the steps in the development of the covenant, and the nature of the relationship the covenant established. If you think God was “married” to Israel, Jeff challenges you to look at the difference between analogy and reality in terms of the true nature of the covenant.

Covenants 5 — Christ and the National Covenant

Do you know who it was that covenanted with Israel at Horeb? And what was the relationship that was established with the nation and why? Jeff Patton brings to light the scriptural answers to these questions and challenges many of the assumptions that have been mistakenly made about the national covenant. Let the scriptures illuminate your understanding of this topic that is vital to your understanding of your relationship with your Maker.

Covenants 6 — Promises and Conditions

What’s a parent to do? God (Yahweh Elohim), as a father to the nation of Israel, provided guidelines to direct all the aspects of national life in the form of commandments, statutes, and judgments — elements of the everlasting covenant. Jeff Patton expounds God’s purpose and the nature of these instructions and the logical and natural consequences that flowed from these teachings as experienced by the nation and recounted by the prophets.

Covenants 7 — Everlasting Covenant Refreshed

Traditional Christianity has become ineffectual in part due to a replacement theology that fails to grasp the nature and purpose of the Everlasting Covenant. Jeff Patton continues this series on the covenant with an inspiring study of God’s objectives in the covenant relationship as applied to individuals and nation. He demonstrates how the covenant was refreshed or renewed through Christ’s death and the changes that ensued as a result of this ultimate sacrifice.

Covenants 8 — Better Promises of the New Covenant

Old? Outdated? Obsolete? Have you been told a lie about scripture? The writer of the book of Hebrews tells us that long after Christ’s death and resurrection, the first covenant was growing old and was in the process of vanishing, yet it was still in effect. However, Christ came to offer a new, or refreshed covenant, and though it did not replace the old it did have better promises! What were the better promises of the new covenant that were offered to those who would participate in this covenant that was mediated by Christ and created a family relationship with God the Father?

Covenants 9 — Defining the Old Covenant

There are many misconceptions about Israel’s covenant with God. What did it entail? Who were the parties to the covenant and what was the purpose of the covenant? Were there conditions and consequences inherent in the covenant? What were the benefits and what did the covenant envision for the future? Find the answers to all of these questions from the scriptures — defining the old covenant — so you can understand God’s vision for Israel

    .

Covenants 10 – A Surprising Future for the Old Covenant

A surprising future for the old covenant: God’s covenant with the nation of Israel is still in effect. How do we know this to be true? What has been the effect of the covenant in the past, when Israel failed to meet its obligations? How was the covenant renewed during the time of the Kings of Israel? What is in store for Israel and her covenant partner in the future? Let the scriptures give you the answers to these and other compelling questions about God and his covenant with Israel.
