Surprising, Conrad Black noted, even the most militant of atheists feel obliged to swaddle themselves in commendable precepts that are generally rip-offs of the Golden Rule about loving your neighbour as yourself—which is found in both Old and New Covenant scriptures! It is ironic that while the unbelieving, hyperactive philistines vociferously denounce the Judeo-Christian values, they nonetheless seem perfectly content to enjoy the benefits of Judeo-Christian civilization even while hypocritically denying its basic tenets. Is All Love Equal
Comments Off on Is All Love Equal, Authors, Blog, Jeff Patton, by CGP.Today, in a 5 to 4 split decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, the so-called “equal protection” amendment should be interpreted to mean that marriage cannot be restricted to only heterosexual couples since homosexual couples must also have equal rights to access marriage licenses. This same amendment, which was enacted during the U.S. Civil War period some 150 years ago, also was used by the court in 1973 to create via judicial reasoning a right to abortion. An explicit reading of the 14th amendment says absolutely nothing about either abortion or homosexual marriage. Read more… View a sermon: God is Just-Right Side of the Future

A Christian Nation?
Comments Off on A Christian Nation?, Sermons and Media, Videos, by CGP.Historically speaking, there was a time when Britains and Canadians would not have questioned their status as Christian nations. David Cameron had the audacity to say recently that Britains should be, “more confident about our status as a Christian country.” But today atheists, and others among the elite of society are loudly denouncing any connection to Christianity. What makes a nation “Christian” and what do the scriptures have to say about nations that would identify themselves as Christian? Jeff Patton takes a close look at the apostle Paul’s defence before the Roman authorities, Felix and Festus, to help us understand what it means to be a Christian.

The Significance of Stooping Low, are you Humble?
Comments Off on The Significance of Stooping Low, are you Humble?, Articles, Jean Jantzen, by COG Webcast.Significance of Stooping Low by Jean Jantzen Dr. Ben Franklin once received a very useful lesson from the excellent Dr. Cotton Mather, which he related in a letter to his son: —“The last time I saw your father was in 1724. On taking my leave, he showed me a shorter way out of the house, by a narrow passage, which was crossed by a beam over head. We were still talking, and as I withdrew, he accompanying me behind, and I turning towards him, he said hastily, “Stoop, stoop!” I did not understand him till I felt my head hit against the beam. He was a man who never missed an opportunity of giving instruction; and upon this he said to me: ‘You are young and have the world before you. Learn to stoop as you go through it, and you will miss many hard thumps.’ This advice, thus beat into my head, has frequently been of use to me. And I often think of it when I see pride mortified, and misfortune brought upon people by their carrying their heads too high.” So what happens when we carry our heads too high? Just how important is it for us to remain small in our own eyes? Does God think it important? In the dictionary the word small means minor in influence, power, or rank: operating on a limited scale: lacking in strength: of little consequence. The word humble means: not proud or haughty: not arrogant or assertive: reflecting, expressing, or offered in a spirit…

Amy Winehouse and Lessons Learned
Comments Off on Amy Winehouse and Lessons Learned, Blog, by CGP.What remains to be said about the tragic death of the famed jazz-soul singer Amy Winehouse? Well, in the secular press you’ll find lots of comments that go something like this: A short sad life, such a waste of talent. Too bad. All true, but not very illuminating or helpful for others. The Economist news magazine made a deeper analysis in its obituary of Winehouse with this observation: “Perhaps above all, her life was a lesson in the dangers of… Read More on WorldTomorrow.ca or Follow on Twitter @COGWebcast

Why Circumcision?
Comments Off on Why Circumcision?, Blog, Jean Jantzen, Jeff Patton, by CGP.By Jean Jantzen and Jeff Patton Circumcise a boy baby in San Francisco and you could face a year in jail under a proposed San Francisco bylaw that will be put to voters in November (“San Francisco Could Ban Circumcision,” Tristin Hopper, National Post, May 20, 2011). The article also stated that infant circumcision has been in rapid decline in the United States in recent years. In 2006, 56% of American newborns were circumcised. Just three years later in 2009 that number was only 32.5%. In Canada about 31% of newborns are circumcised each year according to a 2007 survey… Read More on WorldTomorrow.ca or Follow on Twitter @COGWebcast
