Do we “despise the day of small things” and are we discouraged because times have changed and the influence of the Church of God has waned? Haggai in writing to the people who had been called to rebuild the temple after its destruction, encourages them to do the work in spite of changing circumstances, few labourers, and limited resources. When we look at our society are we seeing “good,” morally virtuous behaviour? Is our world “good,” a thing of beauty and quality? Knowing that God is the source of all things that are good, both morally and qualitatively, how can we reflect God’s goodness when we walk with Him, though we live in a world that may seem unfamiliar with the goodness of God. What we do is a result of who we are in our hearts and minds, whether good or bad. Will we choose to be good on the inside, as God is good, so we may produce good fruit?

In a world that is contrary to biblical values we are warned of the reality of the adverse environment and its effect of “wearing out the saints,” and thus discouraging, undermining, and frustrating our efforts to serve God wholeheartedly. Are we aware of this danger in our lives and are we prepared to face and overcome the challenge of being “worn out” by the daily difficulties. More
God gives his prophetic message to his friends, to those who walk in covenant with Him, like Abraham who did all of God’s will. Are you a friend of God? Are you doing what Jesus has commanded, so that He can give you wisdom and understanding of his prophetic writings?
We are emotional beings and fear is often a major part of our emotional landscape. Can we gain wisdom without the fear of God? Can we let our fears subvert our faith in God? Let the scriptures help you understand this powerful force in our lives, so that “fear” works to our benefit, and does not undermine us.
When we worship God does it matter how and when we do it? Can we create our own traditions and worship God according to the dictates of our heart? Or is there more to worshipping in spirit and in truth than may be easily apparent in our world of competing worship traditions. How do we worship in truth?
