A Day of Reflection

For many Yom Teruah, the day of blowing, or Feast of Trumpets is a time of reflection. It is a time to symbolically cast off sins, and plead before the “heavenly court” Both Jews and Christians alike, consider the Feast of Trumpets, an important time to seek and receive deliverance and forgiveness. In searching the scriptures there are few dramatic historic events that are linked to this Holy Day. However, there are many prophecies that link the blowing of trumpets to a special future time. It is the “day of the Lord” and many events will occur, “in that day” that will touch the lives of all humanity.

Christ Brings Deliverance

The Feast of Trumpets looks forward to the coming of the Messiah and dramatic changes in the world. Living waters will flow from Jerusalem bringing healing and life. Christ will come to deliver his people from those who hate them. And he will settle accounts with those enemies who will fight against him. The Lord will rule and ushering in a time of justice and the restoration of God’s law. Jerusalem will be rebuilt and the earth will be restored.

The Last Trump

When Messiah comes in his glory he will not come alone. All nations will be astonished to see the prophecies unfold before their eyes. Christ will return and all ears will hear the blast of the trumpet announcing his arrival. For some it will be a time of fear and dread. But, for others, it will be a time of great rejoicing. For Christ will return with his saints, who will rise to meet him in the air. Are we heeding the message of the Feast of Trumpets? Are we preparing to be among the saints who will rule as kingly priests with Christ? God’s promises are sure to all who love God, and walk faithfully in covenant with him.
