Guard the Doors of Our Minds
The Defenceless City
The news of 2017 began with a week of lurid and horrific reports of inhumane, calloused, and brutal behaviours. Many biblical writers, from Moses to John, warn believers of the challenges of times not unlike our own. Their description of life in this “cosmos” – is one of a constant struggle between good and evil. And they advise us to be vigilant in guarding the door to our mind — exercising self-control in all situations. Without this quality of self-control people become like cities without walls. They are defenceless in the face of marauders, and vicious enemies. They fall prey and act on wicked thoughts that go uncontested. But we do not have to live this way! More

Prediction for 2017: Times to Remember
The Bible has much to say about the past, present, and future of Jerusalem. The recent UN resolution 2334 brings into stark contrast opposing views on the existence of Israel and the role of the Jews in Jerusalem. There are those who would like to turn back the clock on a century of world history. More
During the winter season one might think that the “great miracle that happened there” was the birth of the Son of God in Bethlehem…but is that the reality? Luke recorded in his account of Jesus life, the story of this birth to the virgin Mary. This is truly an amazing story. But many would be surprised to know that the evidence does not support a date of December 25th, nor any time in the winter. So what is that miracle that happened there, in the land of Israel, in the winter, on December 25th. It may surprise some. More

Christian Leadership — Are You Prepared?
“Then I saw thrones, and the people sitting on them had been given the authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their testimony about Jesus and for proclaiming the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his statue, nor accepted his mark on their foreheads or their hands. They all came to life again, and they reigned with Christ for a thousand years.” Revelation 20
“You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain, And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth.” Revelation 5

Our Leadership Role Model
Chanukah, the national festival of dedication, teaches lessons of godly loyalty in leadership. But most Christians do not know these lessons. They are unaware of Jesus’ message at this time of year. Scripture makes it plain that we are to imitate Christ, patterning our lives after his example of godly loyalty in leadership. There will be a reward for all of those who are called into a covenant relationship with the Father. For if we follow Christ’s righteous example of leadership, we will be co-inheritors with him. How do we prepare for this future? More

Imitating Christ — As Paul Instructs
It is easy to quickly read a bible passage and miss the deeper meaning. The apostle Paul said to the Corinthians, “Imitate me as I imitate Christ.” But, there is so much more to the story. Paul’s letters urge Christians to be reflective learners, examining themselves. Asking, “Does my life emulate the life of a true disciple.” God judges not only our behaviour – whether we are following Jesus’ pattern of living – but our motivation. This is because God has called his disciples to be faithful stewards. Imitating Christ, they will observe that pattern of right living given by the Father, in both action and thought. So are we imitating Christ as we should? More
