Christian Growth

I am warning you ahead of time, dear friends. Be on guard so that you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:17-18

…till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ— Ephesians 4

Prophecy and History

Remember the things I have done in the past.
For I alone am God!
I am God, and there is none like me.
Only I can tell you the future
before it even happens.
Everything I plan will come to pass,
for I do whatever I wish.
Isaiah 46:9-10

Prophecy and history work in tandem in scripture providing accurate details of past events and predicting similar but transformed events for the future. The God of the bible claims that not only has He worked in the past to guide events but He assures bible readers that He is not only able to predict the future but He has the power to bring it to pass. This knowledge of God’s action in history gives believers hope and comfort.

We can all think back on the lessons we have learned and advice from mother. Jeff Patton shares some of these lessons from the “mothers” he has known and then explores the topic of our “spiritual mother,” who she is and what she teaches us. Do you know, or have you made some false assumptions?

Pentecost: Youth Study

1 Comment, Youth, by CGP.

Pentecost/Shavuot/Feast of Weeks
Pentecost is observed in late spring, 50 days after the cutting of the wave sheaf in the middle of the Passover season. It is full of meaning for the Christian and is observed yearly both as a commemoration of the giving of the law/covenant at Mt. Sinai, and the coming of the Holy Spirit after Christ’s death and resurrection. This lesson offers a cloze activity with the related scriptures to help young people rehearse what they already know or search out answers that are new to them.

Punishing the Messenger

Comments Off on Punishing the Messenger, Blog, by CGP.

Our western society, though it speaks loftily of its veneration of free speech, takes actions that belie those words. The message of the Christian scriptures in many circles is being silenced and those who voice it’s message are being punished for expressing their opinions, or even asking reasonable questions. Why is this?
The news media in Canada over the last few days has been covering the story of the five-day suspension from a Nova Scotia high school of a 19-year-old senior, William Swinimer. His offense was wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Life is wasted without Jesus.”
