The Judeo Christian vision and mission were the motivating forces behind the preaching of the gospel to the world in the first century. This vision is alive today and gives us hope for the future.
The mission is the work that God has given his covenant people to accomplish through the ages. And, though the methods have changed as technology has advanced, the essence of the mission is the same for us in this century as it was for the Judeo Christian believers in the first century after Christ. We are to be the living testimony to God’s way of life, the light on the hill, the salt of the earth.
God’s Plan for his Children
God has a plan that has been consistent through history as shown by the unified purpose of God’s teachings and by the personal examples of the faithful: from Abel to Christ and his apostles.
The Judeo Christian Bible is a comprehensive life-map designed by God the Father and spoken by the Word to provide the path to a good physical life and the only path to eternal life through Christ, the Rock of our Salvation. It contains historical eye witness accounts, memoire, poetry, teaching, and prophecy in one integrated package written over the centuries. It’s themes and purpose are consistent and for those who read it’s message, believe it, and then act on it the promise is one of an abundant life walking in harmony with the Creator and a vision of eternal life.
Judeo Christian — What Do You Mean
The words Judeo Christian are most often used to describe the biblically based religious, moral, and ethical heritage of certain western societies.
A belief system and lifestyle founded upon the principle of Sola Scriptura — by bible alone. The Holy Bible, in its entirety, is a complete and divinely inspired compilation of books written for revelation, instruction, and reproof. It is our guiding light giving us a straight path in a crooked world.
Judeo Christian — The City on the Hill
Tocqueville noted that Liberty cannot be established without morality nor morality without faith. These basic concepts were built on the understanding that the Word of God was a beacon of light and this light – the light of the Judeo Christian scriptures and their moral message needed to shine in the darkness. Many pilgrims thought of themselves as architects building a new society and as builders creating the ‘city on the hill’ as a beacon of liberty and righteousness for all.
Judeo Christian — Culture Wars
When we face the questions of daily life and respond to a variety of situations, what principles do we use to guide us?. How do we determine the right or wrong course of action? We have entered a time of culture wars where there is little consensus as to what is the moral and ethical standard upon which we base our actions. But there is a sure foundation and a solid set of values that when applied with wisdom will produce good results. These are values everyone could come to appreciate.
Judeo Christian — Unified Worldview
The pilgrims, like their spiritual ancestors that left Egypt at the time of the Exodus sought to develop a ‘covenant community’ This community would need to be built on the sure foundation of the prophets and apostles that taught and lived in harmony with the Judeo Christian worldview. They were to provide an example — a model — that the world could imitate in order to partake of God’s promises. As disciples of Christ our commission is to be witnesses of this worldview and the Messiah’s good news message.
Judeo Christian — A Question of Conscience
Jesus when prophesying about the end of the age — the end of civilization as we know it — warned against getting caught up in the delusions of the time. It would be a time of great deception of people deceiving and being deceived. So what advice did Jesus and his disciples offer for those living in such times? It is a matter of knowing the truth, the moral and ethical imperatives implicit in the biblical narrative — the Judeo Christian worldview. This will make all the difference in navigating successfully in our present time of confusing and shifting moral values.
