Patriarch to Nation – The Covenant Part 4

Comments Off on Patriarch to Nation – The Covenant Part 4, Sermons and Media, Videos, by COG Webcast.

Many religious people are confused about the nature of the covenant that God established with the people of Israel. Jeff Patton examines the steps in the development of the covenant, and the nature of the relationship the covenant established. If you think God was “married” to Israel, Jeff challenges you to look at the difference between analogy and reality in terms of the true nature of the covenant.

That It May Be Well With You
-scriptural teachings on healthy living

fountain of life b

The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life,
so, no more drinking from death-tainted wells!
Proverbs 13:14

I am not a health specialist, health practitioner, doctor, or medical researcher. Rather, I am a teacher and a writer who over the past four decades has had to search the scriptures and delve into modern research to deal with a variety of health issues – my own and others.
Our Creator admonishes each of us to study and seek for the answers to our questions and He assures us that those who seek will find, if we are looking to Him for the wisdom that will set us free. We must come to this search with the same attitude that David, the Psalmist, had when he spoke of his awe in understanding the human body and how ”fearfully and wonderfully” God formed us all. We must have this same wonder and respect for the miracle of life that our Maker has given us in order that “ It may be well with us.” More

A Fourth Reich?

Finem respice! Principiis obsta!  Yeah, you now know I must be an antiquity since I did indeed study Latin in the 8th grade in public school. But a little Latin and a love of history and the Bible does give me something of an edge when it comes to discerning the World Tomorrow. After all, as King Solomon the Wise once wrote:
What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.

Finem respice means “consider the end,” while Principiis obsta translates as “resist the beginnings…”

Who Will Be King?

1 Comment, Sermons and Media, Videos, by COG Webcast.

This week the European Union is having to make some critical choices. So far 26 of 27 European nations have been willing to trade sovereignty for economic security. The bible has some prophetic statements about choosing who will rule and the implications of those choices. Jeff Patton brings to light the dilemma every follower of Christ must come to grips with when it comes to the question of “Who will be King?” He cautions religious people to remember that prophecy is not a “spectator sport.”

Partnership with God – The Covenant Part 3

Comments Off on Partnership with God – The Covenant Part 3, Sermons and Media, Videos, by COG Webcast.

Do you have a contractual relationship with God or a covenantal relationship? And what is the difference between the two, or are they the same? What do the scriptures tell us about God’s purpose and the work he calls people to accomplish in partnership with Him? Jeff Patton explores the scriptures to make clear who God calls into an everlasting covenant, the nature of the calling, and the work that must be done in partnership with God.

Does What You Believe Really Matter?

Does what you believe Really matter?

Two streams of my life converged this week in an interesting way to challenge me on the question of, whether what I believe is important. It’s easy to take an academic philosophical point of view on such things, but this week it has become more of a pragmatic challenge. In my role of teacher I am being challenged to find ways to help students learn, who would really rather not…at least not in class, or not on topics that the adults in their lives think are valuable for them to know now. It would probably be easiest…
